Our orthodontic treatments can address the following concerns:
Overbite (sometimes called "buck teeth")
When the upper front teeth lie too far forward (stick out) over the lower teeth.
Underbite
A “bulldog” appearance where the lower teeth are too far forward or the upper teeth too far back.
Crossbite
When the upper teeth do not come down slightly in front of the lower teeth when biting together normally.
Open Bite
Space between the biting surfaces of the front and/or side teeth when the back teeth bite together.
Misplaced Midline
When the center of your upper front teeth does not line up with the center of your lower front teeth.
Spacing
Gaps, or spaces, between the teeth as a result of missing teeth or teeth that do not “fill up” the mouth.
Crowding
When there are too many teeth for the dental ridge to accommodate.

Traditional wire braces have long been a reliable orthodontic solution, helping millions achieve lasting smiles over the years. They are effective in correcting crooked, crowded, and misaligned teeth and jaws.
Today’s metal braces are less noticeable, more comfortable, and smaller than the earlier ones and, therefore, are easier to wear. They include metal brackets that are cemented on the teeth, wires that pass through each bracket, and bands that hold the wires. Our metal braces specialist in Victoria will periodically ‘fine tune’ or ‘tighten’ these wires to gradually move your teeth and jaws into the correct position. They will also advise you on how to maintain your braces and your mouth to produce the best outcome. The time that is taken to complete treatment varies from half a year to several years, depending on the case of the patient. During this process, Smilepoint Dental & Orthodontics will be with you as you transition to your beautiful smile.
Invisalign is a revolutionary way to straighten your teeth – without anyone knowing. Invisalign uses computer technology to plan your treatment, preview your smile, create your aligners, and provide you with straight braces in as little as 12 months. Every couple of weeks, we will switch out your custom aligners until your desired smile is achieved. Invisalign has several advantages over traditional braces:
Clear ceramic braces are similar to traditional wire braces but are made of clear materials instead. This makes them much less visible. We recommend these mostly for older teens and adults who appreciate their discreet advantage.
Ceramic braces require more attention to oral hygiene because they are larger and more brittle than metal braces. We use them more frequently on upper front teeth, where your smile is most noticeable.
Invisalign’s clear aligners fit over your top and bottom teeth and hardly show at all. Our adult and older teen patients love Invisalign for this reason. Invisalign aligners can be removed for regular brushing, flossing, and cleaning. You can also remove them when you eat, which means you don’t have to give up foods that you would with wire braces. You can even take off your aligners during special occasions.
Aside from being removable, Invisalign has comfortable acrylic aligners that don’t irritate your mouth like the brackets from wire braces can.
Invisalign is a perfect option for busy people because it typically requires fewer office visits and also less treatment time.
Invisalign isn’t for everyone, but it’s usually ideal for adults. Let us know if you’re interested in Invisalign clear braces to straighten your teeth quickly and comfortably.
These appliances are secured to the teeth with bands and are used to manage thumb-sucking or tongue-thrusting.
This device is utilized to widen the arch of the upper jaw and is positioned on the roof of the mouth.
Designed to keep the lips away from the teeth, lip bumpers help alleviate the pressure exerted by the lip muscles on the teeth.
Also known as Herbst appliances, these devices are worn on the upper or lower jaw to encourage the jaw to close in a more optimal position. They can be beneficial for temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJ).
This device consists of a strap that wraps around the back of the head and is connected to a metal wire in the front (face bow). Headgear helps slow the growth of the upper jaw and maintains the position of the back teeth while retracting the front teeth.
Worn on both the upper and lower arches, retainers are designed to keep teeth in their final positions after orthodontic treatment and prevent any shifting.
